Sri Lalitha Bhavani Kuchipudi Kala Nilayam celebrated its seventh anniversary at Ravindra Bharathi on Sunday, by featuring more than 50 students, besides Vineela, who runs the institute.
As many as 11 children opened the show with Mahaganapathim Manasa Smarami in Nata of Dikshitar followed by Annamacharya kirtana Alarulu Kuriyaga in which Navya played the role of Alamelumanga. This was presented by 11 member team.
Marakathamanimaya Chela , Narayanateertha’s tarangam, went to the share of the principal artiste and guru Vineela. This was her solo number that also incorporated the dance on brass plate. It began with a slokam that goes to depict the acts of Srikrishna as a child and also as a grown up.
There was another composition of Annamacharya, an interesting ‘sringara kirtana’, Jagadapu Chanavula Jajara , brought into view how Lord Venkateswara and his consort Padmavati celebrate Vasantotsavam. Though it had traces of folk element, it showed how the Lord admires his consort Padmavathi and treats her with utter admiration but teasing her with small innuendos. Dancers Srita and Navya played the roles of Venkateswara and Padmavati respectively. There was an imbedded swarasahityam. Ten more students too joined the narrative part of the theme.
Katteduta Vaikunthamu was another Annamacharya kirtana the team chose to present later followed by the traditional Kuchipudi number ‘Dasavataras’. The way these children presented abhinaya was remarkable.
‘Sivaleelalu’ was the final number the students and their guru Vineela presented.
It was quite an engaging show backed by impressive settings and pre-recorded music.
