Cape Town - Real Madrid manager Carlos Ancellotti has brushed aside rumours
that goalkeeper Iker Casillas is set to leave the Spanish giants.
A costly error against Slovakia while on international duty for Spain could be the last straw for the 33-year-old, with rumours emerging that he could be on his way to the Premier League as he looks for a fresh start.
But Madrid manager Ancelotti has defended his keeper, saying that Casillas is a hero at the Bernabeu and that he has no plans on leaving.
"The discussion is closed," he said at the annual Luis de Carlos forum.
"His future is here. He is part of the history of the club and in several years when he quits playing he will attend this forum along with other great ex-Real players to talk about all the European Cups he has won wearing this shirt."
While Casillas may still be first choice for Los Blancos, it is likely he will soon lose his place in the national side to Manchester United’s David de Gea.
Casillas has only ever represented Madrid, having worked his way up from the C team to make an impressive 484 appearances since his debut in 1999.
