"Darth Vader" runs for Ukrainian parliamentFacebook/ Darth Vader

Is Darth Vader returning to his heroic Jedi Knight days? If he is, there might still be hope for Crimea. "Star Wars" villain Darth Vader is running for Ukrainian Parliament under the Internet Party nomination, along with other "friends" from film series.

Ukraine's Parliamentary elections are to be held on 26 October and according to Mashable, this isn't Darth Vader's first run. He had tried to run for Odessa mayor in 2013 as well as for the Ukrainian presidential elections in May, but was unable to register as a candidate in either.

The Internet Party of Ukraine on 15 October announced that 17 candidates have registered under them for the early Ukranian elections to be held in Verkhovna Rada. Among the top five in the list of candidates are: director of "Dark Side of the Force" Darth Vader, the director of "Palpatine finance group" Emperor Palpatine , the chief engineer of the Institute of Engineering Thermophysics, NAS of Ukraine Stepan Chewbacca, unemployed Padme Amidala and director of "Saymens LTD" Master iodine.

According to Kivy Post, these "politicians" even legally changed their names making this year's Ukraine elections a "comically charged" one, especially since Darth Vader, Chewbacca and Yoda would be opposing Super Mario, Spider-Man and Wolverine.

In fact, 16 Darth Vaders would be taking part in Ukraine's upcoming parliamentary elections, of which seven are representing the Internet Party of Ukraine, which advocates technological improvements to eliminate bureaucracy, while the other five are running as independents.

Though the Internet Party, which was registered in 2010 is running on a platform of technological advancement and an end to corruption, understandably many are doubtful of their intensions, especially the party's founder, Dmitry Ivanovich Golubov, is allegedly one of the biggest cyber criminals in the country.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko had announced the dissolution of the country's parliament on 26 August and had called for an October election.

Internet Party of Ukraine has also launched an aggressive propaganda campaign for Darth Vader. In his official Facebook page, he has described himself as a politician. In a series of campaign ads, the Sith lord strums the Imperial March on a Bandura, a traditional Ukrianian instrument; sticks his light sabre in the dirt; and makes passionate nationalistic statements.
