City school kids to share Diwali joy with tribal children
VADODARA: Over 120 students from Shreyas High School will celebrate Diwali with tribal kids from Pavi Jetpur taluka of Vadodara. Aiming to educate the school children about tribal lifestyle and importance of sharing, the school has decided to take the kids to six villages in Pavi Jetpur. The children will visit tribal villages on Thursday and Friday.
On Saturday, the children's parents will meet the tribal families and distribute food and clothes.
The school authorities said that the school children have donated their clothes that will be handed over to the tribal children. "The school children have brought in clothes that they will donate to the tribal kids. We will also distribute food packets to the children staying in these villages. The idea is to educate the school children about tribal kids and their lifestyle. We also wanted the school kids to understand the joy of giving ahead of Diwali," said Pankaj Jani, managing trustee, Shreyas High School.
The school children from class 1 to class 12 will visit Anyadri and Kohivav village on Thursday and Ratanpur and Hirapari village on Friday. The parents of the children will visit Vakol and Mesra village on Saturday to donate clothes, food packets and biscuits. "The school children have prepared greeting cards that they will give to the tribal children," Jani told TOI.
The school authorities said that they will also urge the tribal families to stop child labour during their visit.
