awed her audience

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the winner of the Miss World pageant 1994 always had exquisite features on her side, but her fashion sense was also noteworthy. Traditional looks in Devdas and Jodhaa Akbar, and the new-age modern look in Dhoom 2, showcased her ability to pull off myriad styles.
Long flowing gowns are her favourite, but the actress never limits herself to a certain look, experiments with hairstyles, clothes, and likes to accessorize her neck-pieces. Her exceptional choice is evident from the range of styles that she has displayed at the Cannes Film Festival year after year.
And, who knew that wearing a mermaid dress made out of bangles could be so appealing? But Rai did it flawlessly for her Kalyan Jewellers ad, as she does for her other endorsements like Lux, L’Oreal Lakme, Nakshatra etc.
It is said that the green-eyed beauty loves labels, but she looks stunning in whatever she wears. For Cannes, Elie Saab and Cavalli are the favoured choices, while at home she’s worn Neeta Lulla, Abu Jasmi and Sandeep Khosla as well as Sabyasachi. Be it traditional or western, she carries every dress with panache.
Her golden metallic mermaid dress by designer Roberto Cavalli was well-received at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival.
Designer Manish Malhotra on Ash’s Cannes look said, “Re-defining motherhood, looking sensuous, and really glamorous. The cut of the outfit is complimentary and highlights her recent weight loss perfectly.”
Mumbai-based, fashion designer Nikhil Thampi posted a picture of the actress with a caption exclaiming, “There she is, like a live mermaid!” referring to the fishtail hem on the gown, adding, “Gosh! Breathtaking. Hence she rules the world.”
