QUETTA (Web Desk) – Anti-polio campaign in Quetta and other six districts of Balochistan concluded today (Thursday), Dunya News reported.

According to health officials, 858,000 children below the age of five years were administered polio vaccine in Quetta, Qilla Abdullah, Zhob, Sherani, Pishin, and Lasbela districts of the province.

More than eighteen hundred polio teams took part in the campaign while polio drops were also administered at 232 fixed points.

Five new cases of polio virus have been detected in Quetta and other parts of the province this year.

Spread of the disease has recently reached record numbers in Pakistan largely because of an anti-immunization campaign that has resulted in the killing of dozens of health workers since 2012.
