Ekta Kapoor’s latest offering on TV, 'Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai', which starts tonight at 7 on the new channel PAL, tells the tale of the unrequited love of Poorvi and Arjun, played by Aparna Dixit and Navi Bhangu. The actress, who was earlier seen in a supporting role in a TV show by the same producer, considers herself lucky to have been finalised for this role.

“It goes on to prove that no character is small.
My co-actors from my previous show have me a better actor. When I was offered this role, I was extremely happy to know that my producer has faith in me,” she says. Navi states, “My character is fickle-minded, free-spirited and fun, so it gives me a lot of scope to perform. The last character I played was of an aggressive man. I’m fortunate to play different roles on television.”
Despite being a love story, the actress insists that it’s different from other shows airing on television currently. “What sets this show apart is the fact that the two lovers don’t unite in the end,” she explains. The two characters are also shown to belong to dramatically different family backgrounds.
While Poorvi’s family believes in gender equality, Arjun belongs to a family where boys are always given preference over girls. “Though my family is pro girls, with the show, we are trying to send the message across that girls are on par with boys. Another important message is that love can transform anyone for the better,” says Navi.
Insisting their chemistry is the USP of the show, Aparna says, “Hopefully, the viewers will love to see our hatred, anger and love for each other. It’s all very raw.” What has helped them reflect the hatred onscreen comfortably is their equation off it. “We’re very good friends. I give him cues even if I am not required in the frame and so does he. We are working hard to make this show a success,” she states. The actor adds, “Aparna is very sincere and hardworking.”

Since the story is set in Patna, the two also had to work on their diction. Punjabi lad Navi states that the Bihari dialect came easily to him. “I was always prepared for the role as it was a long-standing wish to play such a character,” he reasons. Aparna says, “Apart from the briefing in terms of the character, I didn’t have to undergo any grooming for the part. As an actor, I try to groom myself on my own.”
Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai starts tonight and will air Monday to Saturday at 7 pm on new channel PAL.
