JHARGRAM: Jhargram authorities on Wednesday busied themselves in preparing Jhargram
Stadium for the ‘
Bijoya Sammelani’ that
Mamata Banerjee will celebrate with clubs across
Jangalmahal that organized
Durga Puja this year.
Some 2,500 people, all members of the clubs, will be allowed into the stadium to attend the function. The authorities are distributing badges and passes for entry.
Around 750 bamboo poles were brought into the stadium for making a pandal on the playground where the function will be held.
Inside the pandal, two stages have been constructed. The CM will address the gathering from one of them while a cultural programme by Jangalmahal artists will be staged on the other. A bamboo barricade has been put up around the pandals, specially the one made for the CM and officials.
Exactly three years ago the CM had announced a Rs 27-lakh grant for development of the Jhargram Stadium. The money Mamata allocated was spent in upgrading the playground, rebuilding the galleries and gates as well as on painting the stadium.
A day ahead of yet another meeting, the authorities were repairing roads from the Jhargram SP’s office and the stadium while security officials conducted checks along the route from the Rajbari to the SP’s office.
