Jaydev guides Saurashtra-2 home, Gujarat-1 go down to Baroda-1

AHMEDABAD: Skipper Jaydev Shah’s 69-ball 89 with nine fours and three sixes and Sheldon Jackson’s 62 helped Saurashtra-2 register a thumping six-wicket win over Baroda-2 in the G1 Reliance One-Day Cricket Tournament 2014 played at SCA Stadium in Khandheri near Rajkot.
Electing to bat first Baroda were all out for 254 runs in 49.4 overs with Hitesh Solanki scoring 77 runs from 89 balls and Ketan Panchal contributing 43 runs.
For Saurashtra-2 Abhishek Bhat picked up four wickets while Dharmendra Jadeja and Saurya Sanandiya bagged two wickets each. Chasing Baroda-2’s target of 255 runs, Saurashtra-2 made 257 runs for loss of four wickets in 47.5 overs. Apart from Shah and Jackson, Arpit Vasavada (34) and Kuldeep Rawal (26) were the other notable scorers for Saurashtra-2. Saurashtra-2 got four points for this win.
In the other match played in Vadodara, Baroda-1 defeated Gujarat-1 by seven wickets. Batting first Gujarat-1 were bowled out for 101 in 30.1 overs with Ajitesh Argal (3/8), K Pandya (3/12) and Murtuza Vohra (2/14) picking key wickets. In reply, Baroda-1 notched up 102 for the loss of three wickets in 28 overs. Aditya Waghmore (46 from 64 balls) and H Pandya (34 from 43 balls) were the main scorers for the winners.
