Ken Block drops Ford Fiesta for world’s most badass Ford Mustang in Gymkhana 7

First there was a Subaru WRX STi. Then came the Ford Fiesta ST Hybrid Hoon Vehicle (HHV).

But six Gymkhana videos and millions of YouTube hits later, Ken Block is now moving on to something larger, beefier, and meaner for his next instalment of the hugely lucrative franchise.

Yes, a Ford Mustang as you has no doubt read from the headline, but a Ford Mustang from the 1960s.

This might seem a little weird considering that gymkhana is a sport (or show, if you will) that is hugely taxing on both man and machine. The car has to sustain very high revs for long periods, and also have aerodynamics to boot. Which is exactly why this old pony car has been thoroughly souped up by none other than Vaughn Gittin, Jr.

The old bodywork has been stretched out, given a set of spoilers and diffusers, and power has been boosted with an eight-piece set of vertical air inlet stacks. But wait, is that air we see billowing out of all four tyres. Is Gymkhana 7 really going to feature an all-wheel drive car?

It just might, considering that the last Gymkhana was widely regarded as more of the same thing, not pushing the bar as far as the first few ones did. If the footage captured here by an onlooker is anything to go by, Gymkhana 7 ought to shut all of Ken Block’s detractors up.
