The government has issued guidelines for writing off loans that victims of endosulfan or their family members in Kasaragod district have availed themselves of.

The scheme will not cover loans availed from private institutions or loans taken for purchase of vehicles, house hold appliances and luxury items.

Relief

If the loan amount exceeds Rs.50,000, the proportion of relief to be granted will be decided on the basis of the victim’s condition, requirement and use of the loaned amount and ability to repay the loan by a committee headed by Collector.

In case of loans exceeding Rs.2 lakh, recommendation of the district-level endosulfan victims remediation cell will be required. The maximum relief will be subject to a ceiling of Rs.3 lakh.
