BETTIAH: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project, Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana, promises to take care of both, the cowherd children and their cattle. Each envisioned model village shall have a school up to Class X, a park and a sports ground. A cattle hostel has also been included in Modi’s wish list so that village cattle are not left attended when children engaged in all-round holistic education.
This was revealed by Sunil Kumar Verma, the mukhiya of Dakshini Patjirwa panchayat in West Champaran's Bairiya block, who was among 10 mukhiyas, apart from three DDCs, from Bihar to attend the meet convened by the rural development ministry.
“The Prime Minister's vision is great. He wants the country's villages to be clean,” he gushed on returning from the meeting graced by the PM at New Delhi's Vigyan Bhawan. “Iss yojana ke karyavahan se hamare gaon swarg ban jayenge,” the mukhiya said.
He further said all model villages will be alcohol and tobacco free. “Addicts will be identified and rehabilitated. The village youth will be sensitized with issues of health, education, hygiene and enterprise that would propel such villages to be green, clean and growing,” Verma said.
The project, he said, also promises a toilet in every house apart from community toilets in the model villages. The availability of potable water and health services will give a fillip to the growth of the village, he said and added the project emphasizes on adult education and each village will have a library including e-library.
Of the three villages that each MP will strive to metamorphose into model villages by 2019, the first one in each constituency will see their bright day by 2016.
“The DMs and the MPs shall monitor the progress of model villages on a monthly basis,” the Mukhiya said, adding that the Centre will be awarding the best performing DM and MP also.
