A commodities trader from Raichur was crushed to death in the city on Tuesday when he was caught between two trucks at the Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee Yard at Yeshwanthpur here.

Mallappa, 40, had travelled to the yard in a truck loaded with pulses. The driver complained that he could not apply the brakes. Mallappa got out of the truck and went behind it to look for the problem. At that point the truck started moving backwards. Mallappa got pinned between it and another truck which was parked nearby. He was crushed to death instantly.

The Peenya traffic police have detained the truck driver for questioning.
