Twin district basketball titles for NBYS cagers

NAGPUR: It was a day to remember for Nutan Bharat Yuwak Sangh (NBYS) as the traditional city outfit bagged double crown in the Nagpur District Mini Basketball Championship which concluded at the Pande Layout Sports Club, Khamla, here on Monday.
In an exciting girls summit clash, NBYS overcame spirited challenge from Shivaji Nagar Gymkhana (SNG) to clinch the title with a narrow 32-31 victory.
Ruta Kothari (10) and Abha Lad (9) were the chief architects of NBYS triumph. Siya Deodhar (10) and Tanaya Deshpande (8) fought hard but in vain.
The boys final was a one-sided affair. NBYS rode on the superb show of Smit Joshi (14) defeated SNG 48-23.
Arun Patil and Arvind Kulkarni distributed the prizes. NDBA secretary Shatrughna Gokhale, Sameer Shrivastav, Ashish Guru and Sandeep Selukar were present on the occasion.

Girls: NBYS (Ruta Kothari 10, Abha Lad 9) bt SNG (Siya Deodhar 10, Tanaya Deshpande 8) 32-31 (6-1, 9-5, 7-13, 12-12). Boys: NBYS (Smit Joshi 14, Sharvil Bomanwar 8) bt SNG (Sumedh Nipane 6) 48-23 (14-4, 5-14, 15-5, 14-0). Individual prizes Most promising player: Siya Deodhar (Girls). Kartik Kanojiya (Boys). Best Players: Abha Lad (Girls). Sharvil Bomanwar (Boys).
