Kamrup admin to rectify voters’ list

Guwahati: The Kamrup district administration— both metro and rural — has decided to rectify the voters’ list following complaints from the electorate regarding mistakes in their names and other details.
The final voters’ list will be issued in January, 2015.
The district administration will publish a draft of the voters’ list on October 15 and start addressing complaints from residents from October 15 till November 10.
The election officer of Kamrup (metro) said the administration will cover all four constituencies of the metro — Jalukbari, East and West Guwahati and Dispur.
The gaon sabhas will help the district officials rectify the errors and the process will be done between October 17 and 30. On October 19 and November 2, the district officials will sit with booth-level agents of the political parties to register complaints from the public.
“The necessary changes to the draft voters’ list will be made by November 20 and the final list will be issued on January 5, 2015,” said an official.
Kamrup (rural) has also decided to follow suit and rectify the mistakes in the draft publication. It will cover the Boko, Chaygaon, Palashbari and Hajo constituencies.
