GURGAON: A day after TOI highlighted the issue of illegal dumping and burning of garbage in the open on Sohna Road near Nirvana Country, HUDA administrator Ashok Sangwan on Monday asked his officials, as well as the town and country planning department, to urgently look into the matter and take action against violators.
Officials said the HUDA chief asked estate officer I, estate officer II and the senior town planner to take steps to put an end to the rampant dumping activity on Sohna Road.
“This has to stop. The dumping and burning of municipal solid waste and horticulture waste in the open is in complete violation of civic laws,” an official said.
And since there have been allegations that that some private developers are dumping this waste instead of carrying it all the way to the solid waste treatment plant at Bandhwari, the administrator has asked the senior town planner to take all possible steps from his side to stop the illegal activity. “The town and country planning department is responsible for taking action against these private builders and since HUDA cannot take action against them directly, the administrator has asked the department to take necessary action,” the official said.
Meanwhile according to sources, Sangwan has also called for a meeting of various agencies in the city on October 27 to deal with the problem. At present, there are four designated spots in the city where residents can dump the waste.
