Performance of banks reviewed at DLRC meeting

SAMBA, Oct 13: A meeting of bankers and District/Sectoral Officers was held to review the progress and performance of bankers in key areas relating to deposits/advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending June 2014.
The District Development Commissioner, Samba Mubarak Singh while chairing the meeting had a detailed and threadbare review of progress achieved in sponsoring the cases by various departments like DRDA, KVIB, KVIC, DIC, Employment, SC/ST/OBC Corporation, Agriculture, Animal/Sheep Husbandry etc. under various schemes like SGSY, SGSRY, JKSSES, PMEGP.
It was intimated that the deposit and advances of banks as on ending June 2014 stood at 2334.10 crore and 1176.76 crore respectively, thus achieving a CD ratio of 50.41 %. Further, District has achieved 10.04 % of the total Annual Credit Plan upto quarter ending June for the year 2014-15 .
The Lead Bank Manager, while giving a detailed account of the performance of Banks during the quarter informed that the progress under priority sectors, weaker sections and Credit Flow to women beneficiaries has been above the RBI stipulations.
The house was informed that against the bench mark of 40% under priority sector advances, the banks have comfortably achieved 47%  during the quarter. The achievement under advances to weaker sections of the society was 18% against the national goal of 10% and 5.5% to Women beneficiaries against national goal of 5%.
The DDC while reviewing the progress of  KCC instructed the Agriculture Department and banks to clear the backlog and ensure that all eligible farmers are covered under the scheme. He also urged upon the bankers to disburse credit under the KCC scheme. He exhorted upon banks and Agricultural Department to complete the 100% coverage of farmers under KCC.
He also exhorted upon all the District/Sectoral officers and bankers to adopt proactive approach to motivate the deserving persons to come forward and take benefit of the schemes. He also advised officers of the different departments to involve PRIs for disseminating information of the benefits under various self employment schemes so as to ensure that benefit percolates among the deserving poor especially marginal farmer weaker sections, SC/ST, Women etc.
He further advised the sponsoring agencies to conduct the awareness camps in the villages especially in far flung and border areas to expand their orbit so that more and more people are educated, motivated and facilitated to initiate self employment enterprises.
He stressed that special attention needs to be given to the farmers and women self help groups under SGSY and also to diversify the activities like mushroom growing, bee-Keeping, dairy farming and vegetable growing etc. and upgradation of skills of rural artisans.
He also emphasized upon the banks to expedite cases for linkage under various schemes and achieve the allocated targets for 2014-15. Under Jan Dhan Yojana, he desired that all the accounts should be opened on priority as it is the major thrust of Government of India.
Dinesh Gupta, Lead District Officer, Reserve Bank of India stressed upon covering the unbanked areas of the district through bank branches or BC/BF model. He further said that financial inclusion is a process of ensuring access to financial services and timely and adequate credit where needed by vulnerable groups such as weaker sections, rural women and low income groups at an affordable cost.
Among others, the meeting was also attended by ADDC Samba Vivek Sharma, ADC Samba, Inderjeet, ACR  M.Y Malik, CPO Samba Devinder Singh and representatives of various banks, besides the District/Sectoral Officers of various department.
