Wave strong says BJP, Congress lives in denial
NAGPUR: All the hard work put in by main political parties during the two-week election campaign and fate of over 200 candidates contesting 62 Assembly seats in the region now hinges to the existence of Modi wave or its absence. The BJP maintains it is very much there. The Congress continues to live in denial despite the worst-ever drubbing it received at the hands of Modi barely five months ago.
"The BJP will win 60% of the 288 seats and form the next government in Maharashtra on its own with a decisive mandate," stressed Ajay Agarwal, a Supreme Court lawyer turned BJP politician. In the recent Lok Sabha polls he contested against Congress President Sonia Gandhi from Rae Bareily and lost. He claims to be an anti-corruption crusader and filed a slew of litigations against the Gandhi family in Bofors deal to Mayawati in Taj Corridor scandal and also disproportionate assets case.
"I am sure the day is not far when Mayawati will be behind bars like Jayalalithaa. I am sure politicians in Maharashtra also have similar fate in store. This state has witnessed worst corruption in last 15 tears under the Congress-NCP rule," said Agarwal.
Dismissing the BJP claims, Congress women's wing chief Shobha Ojha says her party is the only one to act swiftly as soon as any corruption charge is levelled against. "The party does not wait till charges are proved, So in Adarsh housing society case, the party sacrificed Ashok Chavan, Prithviraj Chavan who replaced him is the cleanest politician you can find and has led the state very well in last three years. The Congress under his leadership in state will win the elections and form government on its own," said Ojha.
