NAGPUR: The crime branch and Rajasthan police managed to rescue a woman who was set to be sold for Rs4 lakh. Sapna (name changed) had been taken to Rajasthan after being lured with a job. She was exploited sexually by four men, including two brothers. Police have arrested five people, including a teacher, in the racket.
Sapna, mother of two, was approached by culprits Rekha Kale and Nagma Sheikh, for a job as governess at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, around three months ago.
However, she was sold off to Jugal Kishor Rawal and Rameshwar Gautam, alias Master, a teacher in a local school, in Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. Sapna was exploited by both Rawal and Master.
They then sold Sapna to Kamlesh Nagar and his brother Siyaram for Rs1.20 lakh in Mau Borda village. The brothers also exploited her, and Siyaram also made a fake marriage certificate with her. The Nagar brothers were planning to sell off Sapna for Rs4 lakh when the racket was busted.
Sapna contacted a cop she knew in Jaripatka, who helped her get in touch with a human-rights activist and Additional CP, crime, Sunil Kolhe. Finally, Senior PI BM Powar of social service branch got Sapna's mobile phone number and rescued her.
Amid local protests, PI Powar arrested Kamlesh but Siyaram escaped. The local cops picked up Rawal and Master too. The police also rounded up Rekha and Nagma here. "We feel Rekha and Nagma have sold more girls in Rajasthan," said PI Powar.
