Paul Reubens returns as Mr. Vargas on NBC's 'The Blacklist.'

The Voice
NBC, 8 ET/PT

The audition rounds are finally over on The Voice, which for most talent shows would be good news, but here means the show has moved beyond its best gimmick and only distinguishing idea. Now we're on to the "battle rounds," which only serve to remind us that the "team" format is a fake and to point out why the show has failed to produce a star. For all the appeal of its panel, this is a show that continues to value screaming and vocal gymnastics over singing, and gamesmanship and its judges over its singers.

Scorpion
CBS, 9 ET/PT

This entertaining mishmash of a caper/adventure airs its best outing since the pilot, as Walter brings the team to Las Vegas against Cabe's advice, with predictably disastrous results. The plot is built around a set of characters who each have something to prove, on a series that has to prove it can do an effective episode where the supporting characters do the heavy lifting. Tonight's episode makes a fairly good case that it can.

The Blacklist
NBC, 10 ET/PT

Last week, amid the usual carnage, Blacklist offered a fun guest turn from Paul Reubens as the gore-averse Vargas and a fast cameo from Mary-Louise Parker as Naomi. Tonight, both are back — which makes for two very good reasons to watch.
