Vubiquity Powers Eircom's New Video On Demand Film Service

(ENP Newswire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) ENP Newswire - 13 October 2014 Release date- 09102014 - London - The Republic of Ireland's largest telecoms operator, eircom, recently announced the launch of a new Transactional Video on Demand (TVOD) offering powered by Vubiquity's white-label storefront platform.

US-based Vubiquity, the largest global provider of multi-platform services, is supplying premium movie content for the new service alongside content processing, scheduling and service management. eircom's eVision On Demand service is the first storefront launched by Vubiquity outside the UK since its acquisition of FilmFlex from Sony Pictures Television and The Walt Disney Company Limited in May this year, and it signals Vubiquity's commitment to international growth.

Vubiquity's white-label storefront service can be rebranded and tailored for individual service provider partners. It offers a comprehensive multi-device/multi-screen solution including digital and platform operation, all content management, editorial management, billing and customer service. The business works with all the major Hollywood studios, all the large independents and a wealth of boutique content providers, providing one of the largest ranges of new-release movie content in the territory.

eVision On Demand is part of eircom's successful eVision TV service and is launched with more than 500 films in its catalogue, with plans to grow the service to more than 1000 movies within the next six months. The service allows its customers to rent the latest blockbuster movies and independent films with complete control to pause, fast forward and to watch movies over again on their TVs, and on mobile devices via eircom's iOS and Android apps.

The new service provides customers with 'Films Everywhere' - with the option to stream a film as many times as customers want within a 48-hour rental period. It is also ideal for travelling as the service enables customers to download a movie to the mobile device of their choice to watch offline within a 30-day period. The latest releases cost from only EUR3.99 to rent with library titles from EUR1.99.

Jon Florsheim, eircom Director of TV & Fixed, says: 'I'm delighted with the solution provided by Vubiquity. eircom is committed to continually developing, extending and investing in our offering to provide innovative, exciting services built on a robust platform and backed with high-quality customer service. Vubiquity shares these values. Since we launched eVision last October, we have consistently offered our customers new added benefits and the launch of the on demand service is the natural next step. eVision On Demand will allow our customers to watch the latest Hollywood releases at home, on any mobile device, while they're out and about or even on holidays through a wide range of devices or via their set-top box.' Adam Poulter, Vubiquity Executive Vice President and Managing Director for EMEA and LATAM, says: 'Working with eircom is a pleasure and I'm proud that they have chosen to join Vubiquity's other major clients including Virgin Media, TalkTalk, Film4 and EE. There is a growing demand for our storefront services and the launch of eVision On Demand marks the first step in our plans to extend the service beyond the UK market.

'Consumers increasingly expect flexibility and innovation - they're time-poor and no longer only satisfied with rigid broadcasting schedules. Customers want to watch the latest films whenever and wherever they want, not only in the cinema, but on their TVs, laptops and mobile devices. Vubiquity has the proven platform solution that enables any type of business, not just traditional broadcasters, to meet their customers' constantly evolving expectations and provide viewers with truly outstanding content across a wide ecosystem of devices.' eircom eircom is the principal provider of fixed-line and mobile telecommunications services in Ireland with approximately 2.4 million customers.
