Veteran actor Ashok Kumar

Ashok Kumar, the iconic actor of Hindi cinema, was born this day in 1911. To mark "Dadamoni's" 103rd birth anniversary, we present here posters of five of his superhit movies, from the 1950s to the 1980s.

Mahal (1949) was a thriller on the theme of rebirth and its song, Aayega aane wala, featuring Ashok Kumar and Madhubala, composed by Khemchand Prakash, remains a classic.

Chalti Ka Naam Gaadi (1958) was comedy hit starring Ashok Kumar and his brothers Kishore Kumar and Anoop Kumar. The film also starred Madhubala.

Howrah Bridge (1958) is a cult movie directed by Shakti Samanta starring Ashok Kumar, Madhubala and Mehmood. The film's song, 'Mera naam chin chin chu', shot on Helen is popular till date.

Bandini (1963) was a love triangle directed by legendary Bimal Roy, starring Ashok Kumar, Dharmendra and Nutan.

Khubsoorat (1980) was a family drama directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. Ashok Kumar played the family patriarch.
