Kirti Mandir to host rangoli exhibition again
VADODARA: Barodians will again be able to view artistic and magnificent rangolis at Kirti Mandir this Diwali. The Swastik Rangoli Kalakar Group (SRKG) has been given permission to organize its annual rangoli exhibition at Kirti Mandir by the royal family. Last year, the exhibition that has gained lot of fame in the city had to be shifted to M S University's Faculty of Arts as permission for holding it in Kirti Mandir was denied.
"We are happy that we will again be hosting our rangoli exhibition at Kirti Mandir. The majestic structure is the best venue for exhibiting our artwork. We approached royal scion Samarjitsinh Gaekwad some days ago and he promptly agreed to give Kirti Mandir for the exhibition," said Rajendra Dindorkar, president of SRKG.
The rangoli exhibition was being held at Kirti Mandir over last 20 years and the royal cenotaph had become synonymous with the rangoli exhibition held there during Diwali every year. "We will start working on rangolis on October 14 and the exhibition will take off on October 20," Dindorkar told TOI.
The royal family didn't give Kirti Mandir for exhibition last year citing repair works required in the structure. The decision had disappointed SRKG members. Dindorkar added that the students who have learnt rangoli under him are also organizing exhibition at Vivekananda Art Gallery in Badamdibaug at Dandia Bazaar. "Fifteen of my students, 12 of whom are first timers, have prepared the rangolis based on different themes," Dindorkar added.
