Career Abacus organizes State level competition

JAMMU, Oct 12: Career Abacus, an Abacus teaching institute today organized a State level competition for the students of Abacus in the auditorium of MNKG Montessori School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
The children from the age group of 5 to 13 years participated. The function started with the lighting of lamp by the Champions of 2013, Amninder Pal Singh (Senior) and Baby Sargun Kour (Junior). It was followed by the singing of National Anthem.
During the competition children were given 200 questions which were to be completed within a time frame of 8 minutes. Everyone present at the examination hall was amazed to see the speed and accuracy of little children. The competition was conducted in different levels and age groups.
While speaking on the occasion, Director of the institute, Arvind Sharma, explained the benefits of abacus to the audience and stressed upon the need to teach this skill to all the students in the age group of 5 to 13 years. He informed that abacus not only helps in improving the arithmetical skills but it also improves the memory, listening skills, imagination, creativity, self reliance and above all self confidence of the students.
Prominent among present on the occasion were Rabinder Singh, Chief Engineer (Retd), Chairman MNKG Montessori School and Gurdeep Kour, Principal (Retd), GCW Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.
