Bolly directors' next, Bengali film starring Paayel, Soham
They are smitten by Kolkata and have no qualms admitting it. Bollywood directors Shantanu Ray and Sheershak Anand, who shot Guddu Ki Gun in the city with Kunal Kemmu and Paayel Sarkar, are set to return with a Bengali film featuring a large chunk of Tollywood. Excited about their Tolly debut, Shantanu said, We are both from Kolkata and it was our dream to direct a Bengali film someday.
Obviously then, this movie is very close to our hearts. Its a period film set in Kolkata. A suspense thriller, the film will unfold crazy things that took place in a village. I cant reveal the storyline since its a thriller. We have penned the script, but need to do a lot more homework, as the film has to be true to its era. Jisshu Sengupta, Saswata Chatterjee, Soham, Shantilal Mukherjee, Paayel Sarkar and Raima Sen are likely to be part of the film. We will be shooting in north Kolkata, among other places in the city. We will do the second round of recce soon. Paayel, who worked with the directors before, is looking forward to teaming up with them. Both Shantanu and Sheershak are fun to work with as they know what they want from the cast. The most amazing part about them is the amount of homework they do. In fact, they know a lot more about the city than I do. They have approached me for their debut Bengali film and the script is quite gripping. I liked it though I am yet to sign on the dotted lines, said Paayel. Soham, who loves thrillers, is upbeat about the venture. So is Jisshu. Its an intriguing story and I love the way my character has been etched out. I would love to be a part of the project if all things fall into place, said the actor.
