CBI probe sought into MBBS admission

October 12, 2014 11:40 am | Updated May 23, 2016 06:31 pm IST - PUDUCHERRY:

The Puducherry French Indians Rights Forum has urged the government to order a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities committed by a section of officials in selecting ineligible students for MBBS admission to professional colleges through the government quota.

M. Ilango, ex-MLA and president of the forum, said it had come to light that five students who were not residents of Puducherry had produced fake certificates of nativity to get admission to professional colleges under the government quota.

Malpractices

There have been reports of malpractices in admission to professional colleges since the establishment of CENTAC (Centralised Admission Committee) depriving students of Puducherry of their rightful opportunity to gain admission into colleges.

There would be no proper enquiry into the malpractices if the probe was conducted by the Department of Revenue and Higher Education. So, the probe should be handed over to the CBI and officials and middlemen involved in the scam should be taken to task, he said.
