Akola: Criminal lawyers from Nagpur
Avinash Gupta and RK Tiwari have demanded police protection citing threat on their life from the accused, who also happen to be their clients in a murder case.
The two filed the pursis before the sessions court here claiming they had got threat from their clients, the accused, that both of them would be shot dead in the court premises, hence protection was urgent ad essential during the tenure of their stay in Akola while fighting the case.
One of the lawyers RK Tiwari even filed a complaint against the accused with
Ajni police station, Nagpur.
On July 12, 2012, one Irshad was murdered in Subhash Chowk area of the town and accused Mohd Ansari, Mohd Munaf, Mohd Irfan and Mohd Amir are facing murder charges.
Government pleader Vinod Fate, appearing on behalf of the state, confirmed to TOI that the lawyers had pleaded for police protection.
