Several seers visit Moorusavir mutt

HUBLI: The controversy over the appointment of a successor to the Moorusavir mutt has taken a new turn with swamijis of different mutts of North Karnataka visiting the place on Sunday.
A group of seers, including Dingaleshwar Swami who was rumoured to be the successor to the mutt, arrived in the morning. Seers like Basavalinga Swami of Rudraxi mutt, Mallikarjun Swami of Murugha mutt Dharwad, Fakir Siddharam Swami of Shirahatti Fakireshwar mutt, Shivaling Swamiji of Bijakal mutt, Shivayogi Swami of Bommanahalli Virakta mutt, Channabasava swami of Doddahunase mutt Savanur, Channaveershwar Swami of Adavi Siddeshwar mutt had a closed-door meeting with the present head of Moorusavir mutt Gurusidda Rajyogindra for over two hours.
All of them said they enquired about the health of Gurusidda Rajyogindra Swami. Fakir Siddharam Swami said he came like a devotee. “I don’t know anything about the succession row,” he added. Basavalinga Swami added that Gurusidda Rajyogindra will make an announcement in two days.
Dingaleshwar Swami said that none has discussed with him about appointment of a successor. Asked if he would assume charge if invited, he said he would discuss the matter with devotees of Balehosur mutt where he is the head.
All the seers met with former MLC Mohan Limbikai and Shankranna Munavalli, who are members of the high-powered committee of the mutt.
There is a row over a successor to Gurusidda Rajyogindra who decided to step down last week and asked the mutt administration to relieve him of his duties. He stayed at the Kumareshwar Mutt, Hangal. There was a row when Dingaleshwar Swami of Balehosur was suggested as a successor. Devotees of Murusavir mutt Shaka of Ghataprabha took strong exception and insisted that their head Mallikarjun Swami be made the next pontiff according to the will prepared by then pontiff Gangadhar Rajayogindra.
