Razak Brimah: Spanish side C D Mirands fail to use Ghana keeper despite blocking his trip with Ghana
11.10.2014 LISTEN

Spanish side C D Mirandés have excluded Ghana goalkeeper Razak Brimah from their squad to play Ponferradina on Saturday despite refusing to allow him to join Ghana for the 2015 AFCON qualifier.

The Rojillos prevented the 27-year-old from travelling to Casablanca – Morocco, to join his Ghana team-mates for Saturday's AFCON qualifying clash with Morocco but have also dropped him out of their squad for Saturday's game.

Mirandés coach Carlos Terrazas left the Ghanaian out of his team for their game, replacing him with Spanish glovesman Sergio Pérez.

Mirandés' line-up: Line-up: Sergio Pérez; Aitor, Caneda, Corral, Kijera; Rúper, Emilio, Álex García, Barahona, Igor Martínez and Pedro.

Stand-in Ghana coach Maxwell Konadu called up Brimah after Adam Kwarasey, who was originally scheduled to be part of the squad, pulled out at the last minute citing a slight injury.

This resulted in coach Konadu sending the late invite to Brimah's club CD Mirandes who were reluctant to release the player because of the late arrival of the invitation.

Despite Brimah's quest to convince his club to release him for the two matches, Mirandes stood their grounds resulting in the goalkeeper's absence in the Black Stars camp.
