MYSORE : Theatre repertory Rangayana has lined up events to pay homage to Jnanpith laureate U R Ananthamurthy on Saturday.
As a prelude to the event, Rangayana will organize a meeting wherein writers and academicians from across the state will speak on Ananthamurthy's life and writings. Addressing mediapersons here on Friday, Rangayana director H Janardhan said: "In this programme, writers and poets will recite and read the writings of the acclaimed winner."
Many writers, including K V Puttappa, Devanura Mahadeva, Ananthamurthy, Siddaliangaiah and others have contributed to the growth of Rangayana.
"This programme is to acknowledge their contributions," he said, adding that Ananthamurthy's writings have left an impact on society.
In the evening, theatre group Parivarthana will stage skits, depicting the life of Ananthamurthy. This will followed by a play based on his writings. 'Endoo mugiyada kathe' cover various aspects of his works 'Samskara', 'Avasthe' and 'Bharatipura'.The programme will also highlight Ananthamurthy's association with various social issues and movements in the state. Janardhan said that he will sing theatre songs of B V Karanth on the occasion.
