In yet another incident of an attack on a supporter of the Bhatariya Janata Party, a party worker was killed at Ilambazar in the Birbhum district of West Bengal.
A seven-member team of the BJP visited Domarpur village on Friday where the incident occurred a and met the family of Sheikh Enamul, who was killed on Thursday.
His was kept at the local BJP party office for sometime during the day before the final rights were performed.
This is the second instance where a BJP supporter has been killed in political violence after the Lok Sabha polls in the State. Weeks after the poll results indicated a significant increase in the support of the BJP, Sheikh Rahim, another BJP supporter was killed in the same area.
“The Trinamool Congress is concerned about the manner in which a large number of people from the minority community are coming out in support of the BJP. The party is apprehensive that it will be removed from power in 2016. It indulging in such acts of violence in desperation,” State president of the BJP Rahul Sinha told journalists.
The first information report registered in the case mentions among other accused name of Zafarul Sheikh, a district level AITC leader.
