Don't let the truth get in the way of a beautiful lie

Review: Paul Bright's Confessions, Peacock Theatre

Colin Murphy

James Hogg was an 18th century Scottish writer whose ground-breaking novel, 'Confessions of a Justified Sinner', was forgotten before being rediscovered in the mid-20th century.

Paul Bright was a director in Glasgow in the late 1980s who made an attempt to stage the novel. He failed and was forgotten, until he was rediscovered by the actor George Anton.
