The Assam Police have arrested six persons in Barpeta district for alleged links with the Jamaat’ul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB), which is suspected to be behind the October 2 blast at Bardhaman in West Bengal.

A Kamrup court on Friday remanded all the arrested — Golam Osmani, Johurddin, Siraj Ali Khan, Rafiqul Islam, Sarbes Ali and Saiful Islam — in 14-day police custody, Assam Home Commissioner G.D. Tripathi said.

Terror activities of the JMB attracted global attention when it created a reign of terror in Bangladesh by triggering blasts in 300 locations in 63 districts, including Dhaka, on August 17, 2005.
