(DNA : Daily News & Analysis (India) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) "Ahmedabad: With the business of e-commerce websites growing at a rapid pace in India, offline retailers, merchants and shop-owners have been struggling to reach out to customers. With the increasing penetration of internet and smartphones, the price-driven Indian consumers have also got smarter as they often look for a comparison of products and their prices to get a fair idea of the features and thus choose the best that suits their budget.

Zopper, an Android-based mobile app as well as a website, caters to this need by listing offline merchants along with online retailers for a wide range of products and gives a price comparison between online as well as offline retailers to the shoppers.

Speaking to dna, Vaibhav Garg, Chief Marketing Officer, Zopper said, "With Zopper, a user can browse products across several categories like clothing, accessories, mobiles and tablets, consumer electronics, baby products, books, health and beauty products, etc. The app or website will provide a list of online retailers where the product is available along with the list of offline merchants in a given city (with their contact information) who sell it. The user can see a comparison of offline and online prices and thus select the best deal." Commenting on the experience the owner of Shrimati Sarees in Ahmedabad said "At first, I was apprehensive about using Zopper but decided to just test it once. It proved very advantageous. Promoting on Zopper led to an increase in my transactions." Operating from Noida since 2011, Zopper covers around 1.2 crore products across several categories and has around 2,000 e-commerce websites like Flipkart, Snapdeal, Myntra, Maniac, ShopClues, Body Shop India, etc. along with 1, 50, 000 offline retailers listed with it. Out of the offline retailers, around 1500 retailers hail from Ahmedabad. The one-shop-stop venture levies a service charge from offline retailers that varies in a range of 2 to 15 per cent of the profit margin, depending upon the product category. Similar charges are levied from online retailers as well, which is roughly a few lakhs.

Online Biz SOARS During Diwali, the online retailing business is set to see the biggest flip ever in the history: At present the market is estimated at Rs. 12,000 crore and may cross Rs. 1,00,000 crore a year in India over the next 3-4 years " Credit:Niyati Parikh Deshpande (c) 2014 @ 2014 DILIGENT MEDIA CORPORATION LTD.
