Amalthea’14, the fifth edition of the annual technical summit of Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar will be held on 11th and 12th of October.

This year’s summit, based on the theme ‘Ideate And Innovate’, focuses on spreading technical knowledge and suffusing enthusiasm in minds. The aim is to nurture the world and bring prosperity through technology. Amalthea’14 promises to entice every prospective engineer by bringing together the best minds from industrial and academic worlds and providing a platform for interaction with them.

Amalthea’14 subsumes an ‘Innovation Conclave’, a ‘Design and Innovation Expo’ and a plethora of technical and non-technical events.

The Conclave 2014: ‘Inspiring the world through Ideas and Innovation’ will offer valuable insights into the various aspects of innovation and research to a broad audience. Some of the speakers this year are:

Dr. Gurtej Sandhu, Director of Advanced Technology developments at Micron Technology, Inc.
Mr. R.Chidambaram, Principal scientific adviser to the federal Government of India.
Mr. Sumit Choudhary, President – Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd.
Dr. Anil Bhardwaj, Director of the Space Physics Laboratory, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO.

The ‘Design and Innovation Expo’ will illustrate the role of Design and Innovation in the success of various products. Amalthea has been hosting an exhibition with the objective of showcasing the glory of technology at its best. Companies and organisations like Microsoft IT, Cybernetik Technologies, ITER, ISRO,

Light Logics, AHA 3D printer, DC Design, CGCRI, Bisko Labs, Yo Bikes, etc. are participating in the expo. Also, gadgets like Google Glass, UAV, 3Doodler, etc. will be on display.

Amalthea’14 will host a variety of events to stimulate thinking and providing platform to apply gained knowledge with exciting prizes worth Rs1.5 lakh. Some of the events are:

Sky High- Aero-modelling competition.
D-Code- Online coding event.
Techknow quest- Online treasure hunt.
!nQuizzed: Exciting quiz competition for all.
Seismism- Earthquake resistant building design competition.
Innovent – Innovative product design challenge competition.

Apart from this, a plethora of workshops based on robotics, android app development, CAD, etc will be organized during Amalthea’14.
