2 killed, 3 hurt as truck hits people at bus stop

According to information, the driver of a truck coming from Ludhiana side to Ferozepur side lost control of the vehicle and the truck climbed on the footpath near Aarti Chowk, hitting five persons standing at the bus stop. Police said that a wooden slab jammed the accelerator of the truck. The injured were rushed to the Civil Hospital for medical aid.

Cops from three police stations reached the spot, impounded the truck and arrested the driver. The police had initially suspected that the driver was under the influence of liquor but later they came to know that a fault had developed in the truck. The road was blocked after the accident and heavy traffic jam was witnessed on the road for about an hour.
