The venue for the anniversary edition of Screen – The Big Picture was The Gallery at the iconic Express Towers in Nariman Point in Mumbai where the Screen office is located.
Rani Mukerji, in a royal blue embroidered saree, looked every inch a beautiful newly-married woman and not fiery mardaani like her recent release, Raveena Tandon fitted her mast mast image as she came dressed in a plain high-necked bright red top paired with loose black trousers and petite Dia Mirza, who has two films as a producer, sported a black printed top with matching coloured tight fitting skirt. She charmed everyone with her accurate replies.
What is interesting is that Rani met her Biology teacher at the event… and recalled her school days along with him.
The actresses, who attended three different sessions each, gave varied views even as they spoke on the same topic. The interactive Q and A session had queries from people from various fields of life as well as industry insiders like actresses Pallavi Joshi, Anjana Sukhani and Urvashi Rautela, editor Deepa Bhatia, producer Vibha Dutt and director Samit Kakkad.
Rani, Raveena and Dia even praised the guests who came up with some interesting questions.
Meeting ground
Pallavi Joshi, Anjana Sukhani and Deepa Bhatia seemed to have met for the first time but that did not stop them from chatting their heart away and even posing for photographs with each other and with their fans who were present at the venue.
Traffic woes
As Rani Mukerji walked in for the event, she met Anant Goenka, Wholetime Director & Head of New Media, The Indian Express Ltd. Later she greeted everyone with a, “Nice to see such happy faces. You have no idea what I’ve been through. I’ve come through a sea of traffic. I swam through it but I am extremely happy to come to Screen office today. I’ve some very fond memories of talking with Screen, the paper as it believes in something more than entertainment always. That’s why I respect Screen.”
Flower girl
Dia Mirza, like every girl, seems to have a fondness for flowers. When she was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a few mementos, the actress was thrilled to bits and kept the flowers close to her.
Lending a ear
As Raveena Tandon walked in, she spotted Pallavi Joshi and immediately gave her a big hug. They caught up like old friends, meeting after a long time. With their busy schedules, both the actresses who have known each other for years, were indeed meeting after a long span. Reknowned film editor Deepa Bhatia was all ears for their banter.
Class apart
Rani got the surprise of her life when she bumped into her biology teacher from school who, incidentally, had come to the Express Tower on some personal work that day! Recalling her school days, she said, the students were free birds and there was hardly any news of women being insulted or molested and parents never feared for their children’s safety. “I’ve seen her in school and she was the same like she was in Mardaani. She would emphasise that everyone was equal! I liked her in her first picture Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat where she played a more stronger role,” said her teacher.
Lady in red
Urvashi Rautela, who was seen opposite Sunny Deol in Singh Saab The Great, last year sported a bright red dress and was the cynosure of all eyes. She was seen interacting with the guests present at the event
Security issues
Raveena Tandon was in a playful mood that day! When we wanted her to mouth a funny dialogue from one of her films, she laughed saying, “Now you have to pay me because that will mean I performed. So please send a cheque,” she chuckled and being the sport that she is, she posed with the firemen of the Express Tower.
