Irrfan: Jaipur mere bachpan ka sheher hai
Bollywood actor Irrfan was in Jaipur on Wednesday, to shoot for a television showHar Ghar Kuch Kehta Hai.
It was surely a nostalgic moment for him as the actor visited his paternal home in Tonk City, his home in Jaipur, and his favourite hang out places in town. Said Irrfan,“Dwelling in the past is something which I always prefer to avoid. But, through the show, which focuses on acquainting people with our stories, I am taking a journey down memory lane.
It’s another way of saying thanks to my city that has given me an identity.”

Before moving to tinsel town, Irrfan did a lot of theatre in Jaipur. Reliving the magic of the good old days with Vinay Pathak, host of the show, he took a stroll of the city. He also visited Ravindra Manch, the hub of cultural activities, especially theatre in Jaipur. Going around the building, he also met his theatre guru Ravi Chaturvedi, who too shared some stories about his student. One thing that Irrfan still misses is flying kites. “Ye mere bachpan ka sheher hai. Bahut sari yaadein judi hain iss sheher se meri. Yahan aakar wapas unhi yaadon ko phir se taaza karna behad sukun bhara tha. All those memories of flying kites, going to school with a bunch of buddies and struggling days still come flooding back whenever I visit this city. I visited all the places once again, including my favourite hang out place like Nahargarh Fort but I missed out on flying kites.”
Host Vinay too enjoyed visiting the city, and said, “Jaipur, undoubtedly, exudes an infectious charm. And whenever I come here, I feel at home. When I came here to shoot for the same show last year, I witnessed a musical Jaipur. While with Irrfan, I have got to know more about various other facets of the city. It’s a vibrant place.”
