Book on Tuluva history and culture

A reprint of “Studies in Tuluva History and Culture” by Padur Gururaja Bhat will be released here on Sunday.

Retired Chief Justice of Supreme Court of India M.N. Venkatachalaiah and former Governor of Bihar and Jhakhand M. Rama Jois will release the book.

Speaking to presspersons here on Thursday, Dr. Padur Gururaja Bhat Memorial Trust Chairman P. Sripathi Tantri said, “The book is considered by eminent historians as an authentic book on the history of Coastal Karnataka. It covers political, linguistics, religious, historical and cultural history of the land of Tuluvas. The book was first published in 1975.”

Noted historian S. Shettar will be presented the annual Dr. Paduru Gururaj Bhat Memorial Award for 2013 for his contribution to history. The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 50,000 and a citation, Mr. Tantri said. The book consisting of 1,000 pages is priced at Rs. 2,000 and would be available at Rs. 1,750 if ordered before its release, he added. For details, call 9844001184 or 0820-2570586.
