It's not everyday that we see a woman confronting an eve-teaser. Rujuta Diwekar, 36, a Khar-based celebrity nutritionist, took on an eve-teaser and went the extra mile to give him a lesson or two on good behaviour. The incident occurred last week, around 4pm, off Linking Road, while she was walking towards her workplace on Ramkrishna Mission road. When a autorickshaw driver passed lewd comments, this braveheart took him to task right there and then.

What was the nutritionist's reaction?
Rujuta was shocked at first when the incident happened. "I have always found this area and the city safe for women. So, such an incident did shocked me. An autorickshaw driver slowed down his vehicle and blew a whistle at me. He even made some vulgar gestures and passed lewd comments," she said.

How did she catch him?
After the initial moments of shock, when the driver started to drive away, Rujuta decided to chase him. As soon as the offender stopped at a signal on Linking Road, she caught hold of him. "I pulled him out of the rickshaw and slapped him a few times. A woman in a nearby car, got out and gave me moral support," added Rujuta.

Did she find support?
Following the chaos and fighting, a mob gathered around the two women. Rujuta then asked the man about his whereabouts. "I told him, I had the right to wear whatever I want. I also told him that a woman is not a property to be harassed or taunted," said Rujuta. Looking at the mob gathered around him, he decided to apologise to Rujuta and even addressed her as his sister.

Pics go viral on internet
The other woman, who had supported her, clicked photographs of the man and his autorickshaw, which soon began to trend on social networking sites. "I did not get his name. At that moment, I did not think of approaching the police. But, if I face any other molester or eve-teaser on the roads, I will chase him down again. Such acts should not be tolerated by women," she said.
