BANGALORE: The journey of five friends from Bangalore to Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada ended in a tragedy on Wednesday: A speeding bus hit their car, leaving three of them dead.
The KSRTC Volvo bus rammed their vehicle near Kudur Cross at Kunigal in Tumkur. While Vinutha and her friend Shobha, 37, from MEI Colony in Laggere near Peenya, died on the spot, Prithi Thomas, 45, succumbed to injuries on the way to a private hospital in Nelamangala.

Sources said the five friends, four of them women and Nitin Chandra, set out from Bangalore at 6.30am. When they reached Kudur Cross an hour later, the bus hit their car. The injured Shwetha, 25, and Nitin, 34, are undergoing treatment at BGS Hospital in Nelamangala. Nitin, who sustained head injuries, is critical. Shwetha has fractured her hand.
