The star cast of Tamanchey recently spent two hectic days promoting their film in Delhi, but they took some time out to party and give a glimpse of their film’s music to Delhiites.
Along with Sonu Nigam and Mohit Chauhan, actors Nikhil Dwivedi, Richa Chadda and Damandeep Singh Siddhu were at The Flying Saucer Café, spending majority of their time not singing or dancing or even talking about their film, but clicking selfies with fans and with each other.
The evening began with music director Arko Pravo Mukherjee singing his composition Dildaara from the film. He told the audience, “This is my first time singing on stage, and my act will be followed by Mohit and Sonu. I just feel like a shady rock musician from Kolkata.” Then it was Mohit’s turn, who sang Pee Loon, while an excited Richa and Nikhil took turns taking selfies with him. He said, “I’ve spent a lot of time in Delhi, so it’s always nice to come back here to perform.” The crowd cheered at his statement, just as they did every time someone mentioned Delhi.
But the crowd’s cheers turned deafening when Sonu took the mic. As some girls stood on chairs to blow kisses at him, he started singing Sooraj Hua Madham, and everyone joined in during his rendition of Abhi Mujh Mein Kahin. He ended the night with Dildaara, which he’s sung in Tamanchey, and got the entire cast and Arko to join him on the stage. Priyank Sukhija, director of the venue, was excited to see the house chock-a-block, and said, “We always aim to get the best for our guests, and what could have been more special than to have all these renowned musicians under one roof?”— Kashika.Saxena@timesgroup.com
