A trainee naval cadet was electrocuted and three of his colleagues from Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala in Kerala were injured Wednesday after the mast of the wind-powered boat, in which they were sailing, touched a high tension wire near Kasargode.
The victim, Satveer Singh Garha, 21, belonged to Hoshiapur district in Punjab.
“The training in wind-powered boat was very simple. It did not require any special attention. There were four or five other boats sailing in the same backwaters. The dead and the injured belonged the same boat,” a Navy official said.
Sources said that they could not say about whether there was lapse on the part of anyone.
