THE average on Poll Merino sires jumped by almost $200 at the Pindari ram sale on September 23.
Bidding reached $2500 for the top price lot, bought by return buyer Andrew Bastian, Booleroo Centre.
The ram had fleece measurements of 21.2 micron, 14.2 coefficient of variation, 99.4pc comfort factor and an eye muscle depth of 33 millimetres.
Pindari principal Robin Schwartz, Waterloo, said the ram had good size, structure and quality wool.
He was from a Ridgway Advance sire, who had been breeding well for the stud.
Mr Schwartz was happy with sale results.
"We knew the Dohne side would be a bit tough as I'm not a pure Dohne breeder, but the Poll Merino side was strong," he said.
He said the rams had presented well, showing good size, with the 14-month-old, paddock-reared rams weighing in more than 90 kilograms.
"I'm pretty pleased with how we're getting them to grow naturally," Mr Schwartz said.
In the Dohne section of the sale, six of the 10 offered sold to four buyers at $600, taking the average to $600.
