Tanvir replaces Junaid Khan for Australia series

Pakistan has suffered another blow with left-arm pacer Junaid Khan being ruled out of the entire series against Australia in the United Arab Emirates after suffering a knee injury.

Junaid underwent to an MRI scan after getting injured during his team’s practice session on Tuesday. The results have revealed that the 24-year-old pacer had twisted his knee, and needs to rest for 6-8 weeks.

“Junaid is returning home after injuring himself in a practice session. MRI scans have confirmed that his knee injury requires six to eight weeks to heal,” a PCB official said.

The tour selection committee had called up Sohail Tanvir as a replacement for Junaid.

Earlier, Muhammad Hafeez was also ruled out of the ODI and Test series after injuring his left hand during a practice match, while the team was already without the suspended Saeed Ajmal.
