Apparently frustrated after failing to get his work done, a man slapped a senior official at a Tehsil Diwas programme in Allahabad district.

At a similar programme in Baghpat district, a senior police official thrashed a poor complainant after he accused the other of demanding bribe.

Tehsil Diwas

Tehsil Diwas is a day on which district officials meet common people to redress their grievances in the state.

Rang Lal, a resident of Pure Baghel area in Allahabad district on Tuesday slapped a sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) at the Tehsil Diwas programme in full public view.

Lal had been making rounds of the officials to resolve a land dispute he had with his neighbours.

“I had attended several Tehsil Diwas in the past and every time I was told that my complaint letter had been missing. This time also I got the same reply,” a visibly angry Rang Lal said.

Eye witnesses said Lal slapped the SDM, S P Srivastava as soon as he came out of the tehsil building. Lal was overpowered by the security personnel and was taken into custody.
Angry cop

In another incident, a complainant at Tehsil Diwas programme in Baghpat district earned ire of a senior policeman when he told him that they were demanding bribe to do his work.

Ranveer Singh, a farmer from Johari village in the district, complained to the circle officer (CO) C P Singh that the police were openly demanding bribe.

Public beating

Singh got angry over the accusation and allegedly thrashed the former publicly. He was later lodged in the jail.

Local Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) MLA Veerpal Rathi also reached the spot a little later and lodged his strong protest over thrashing of the farmer and his subsequent arrest.
