Amravati: A strong anti-incumbancy wave against sitting Shiv Sena MLA Abhijit Adsul in Daryapur and an equally strong support for former Shiv Sena man and sitting Independent MLA Anil Bonde (now, a BJP candidate) in Morshi indicate that winds of change may hit Daryapur this time while BJP will add a new constituency to its fold in Morshi.
“Abhijit Adsul go back” is the refrain in Daryapur these days.
Be it a BJP supporter or MNS follower or Congress-NCP loyalist, everyone wants to send back what they consider an ‘outstation parcel.’ Right from Day One, this wave has been evident. “We had registered our protest against Adsul at the time of Lok Sabha elections but his father did not listen. Expecting a ministerial berth for Abhijit, he repeated him this time again. We are not going to tolerate it. Villagers are not allowing him to enter their villages,” says Pramod Teware, a sawmill owner and a Shivsainik.
Like Abhijit Adsul, the constituency is also finding NCP’s Dinesh Boob to be an outsider. Basically a shivsainik and an Amravatian, Boob is not expected to cut much ice here. Though MNS’s Gopal Chadan is a local face and has sympathy too, his mild disposition is not liked very much by the voters. This leaves the fight open between Adsul and Balwant Wankhade of RPI. Wankhade had polled 25,948 votes last time as an independent. Today he is contesting on RPI, which had bagged 20,263 votes last time. The equations are strong this time for Wankhade. It would be no wonder if he dislodges Adsul, riding on anti-incumbancy wave.
In Morshi, the picture is crystal clear with BJP’s Bonde miles ahead of others. NCP stalwart Harshwardhan Deshmukh and Congress veteran Nareshchandra Thakare in fray notwithstanding, Dr Bonde should not face any problem in retaining his constituency. Against Deshmukh’s ‘darbari’ politics and Thakare’s ‘co-operatives’ politics, what gives Bonde the edge is his strong public contacts. Dr Bonde’s main rival will be Shiv Sena’s Umesh Yawalkar.
