SURAT: Authorities are likely to take action against 14 schools and colleges located in Athwa zone of the city that compels its students to park their vehicles outside the premises on public roads and places. During the coordination meeting between MLAs and Surat municipal Corporation (SMC), the issue was raised and it was decided to hand over the list of these institutions to police department for action.
Athwa zone of the city carried out a survey and it was found that number of managements of educational institutions in place of getting vehicles parked in their compounds, make students park their vehicles on public roads creating parking menace in the area.
The schools and colleges that create this parking menace include Maheswari vidyalaya, St Xaviers school, SCET college, Seventh day Adventist school and college , Lourds convent, experimental school, SD Jain college, SD Jain modern school, Shardayatan school, Umrigar school, SPB college and VT chokshi law college.
"By compelling students to park on public roads, these institutes are creating a situation of traffic chaos in the area. We would inform police about them with their photographs for necessary action," said an official of Athwa zone.
