Venkaiah defends telecast of RSS chief’s address

October 07, 2014 03:00 am | Updated November 16, 2021 07:15 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Union Minister for Urban Development M. Venkaiah Naidu dismissed as ‘meaningless’ protests raging over Doordarshan’s live telecast of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s address on Vijaya Dasami day.

Responding to a question at a media conference here on Monday, he termed the speech ‘historic’ and said it was telecast live by many news channels including DD.

“I don’t know why people are making it a controversy … RSS is a nationalistic organisation, a patriotic organisation. Doordarshan has done a good thing. I compliment them,” he said.

When a journalist pointed out that it had never happened in the past, Mr. Naidu ticked him off, saying that good things, even if they were delayed, should be welcomed. “Modiji has come. Good things are happening. Acha din aagayaAur bhi acha din ayega !”
