Chennai is to dancers what Lords is to cricketers: Manju Warrier
With her grace, energy and aesthetic dance movements, actress and dancer Manju Warrier captivated the hearts of Chennaites. She was in the city recently for a Kuchipudi performance as part of a cultural fest.
The actress, who became the cynosure of all eyes, was more than happy to perform in front of an elite audience at the cultural hub. “It’s often said that a dancer comes of age in her artistic abilities only after she or he performs in the city of Chennai.
Chennai is to dancers what Lords is to cricketers. The audience here comprehends the nuances and intricate details that go into every performance before them. From the time I started dancing it has been my dream and aspiration to perform in this cultural haven. That childhood dream was fulfiled yesterday, thanks to Suryakrishnamurthy sir as I performed for the AIMA Surya fest 2014,” the actress wrote on her social networking page.
Manju’s performance was witnessed by socialites and celebrities, including Parvathy Jayaram, actor and dancer Vineeth, director Ramana and many others. However, it seems the presence of actress Shobhana is what made Manju really excited. “To build my excitement, I performed in front of Shobhana chechi, my Idol. I grew up watching in awe the danseuse in her. I am not too sure if my performance was great but from the positive reviews from my friends and the general audience, I wish and hope I managed at least minimal justice to the golden opportunity that came my way,” said Manju, adding that she is praying to God to get more such opportunities to perform in front of the profound audience of Chennai city.
Manju, a trained dancer, had bagged many titles before embarking on a successful film career.
